Painting plein air on picturesque Mackinac Island with the guidance of renowned local artist Maeve Croghan is a special experience. Students will work outdoors in acrylic, oil or watercolor capturing Mackinac’s striking light and hues. Discover your voice while exploring how the use of color, shapes, and value contribute to making an expressive painting. Workshops will be held in some of Maeve’s favorite plein air painting spots. Maeve will demonstrate plein air techniques, explain her methods of working outdoors, and give guidance to each painter throughout the session as they paint their subject. Maeve’s easy and encouraging teaching style gives each student confidence to successfully begin and work through their paintings, producing a lovely ‘Mackinac’ painting. This is a rare opportunity to paint with a nationally renowned ‘Mackinac’ artist, who knows the Island as few others do.
All levels of painters are welcome! A supply list is available prior to arrival upon request from Maeve.
